Current Spirituality

"Jesus is Hip" - or so the T-shirts said. Christianity is undergoing a resurgence and even the major TV networks are getting in on it.

Dateline featured a special entitled, The Last Days of Jesus.

CNN aired How Paul spread the word of Jesus.

It has also become easier to immerse yourself in your faith with the advent of the Internet. Religious sites are numerous, like Christianity Today, NewAdvent.org, Gnosis.com, and Beliefnet. The grandchildren of a religious generation are wondering what it is all about as they were not raised with religion. Their parents did not stress religion and now they wonder if they have missed something.

I attribute this current heightened flurry of interest to Mel Gibson's Passion of the Christ. It has made people, especially those with a Christian background, think and ponder what the life of Jesus means to them.

But Passion of the Christ is not exactly the same thing as Highway to Heaven. It slams its message in your face, shocks you to your core, makes you question what you see and its relevance to your life. Catholic churches were reporting increased attendance as CNN reported.

That Jesus existed, is an historical fact. Whatever else one may attribute to him, is a matter of faith....and therein lie the differences in religions and belief systems.

Add into this mixture, books like Dan Brown's The DaVinci Code, and you have a full-blown mystery, or conspiracy theory. What about the first 300 years of Christianity? It was different than what Christians follow today. Jesus was recognized as a prophet, as do the Gnostics still. They also believe Mary Magdalene was the wife of Jesus and they had children...the Royal Bloodline....Sang Real....San Greal....Holy Grail. Read the book! All is not as we have thought for 2000 years, or at least the last 1700 years.

b In this section we explore the concepts of Karma and Reincarnation, go back in time with the Druids, learn of the Gnostic Gospels, and touch upon the hidden wisdom of the Kabbalah.
